The rest of my work.
After 18 years with their previous brand identity, Celtic Bank, ranked 6th in the U.S. for most active SBA 7(a) lenders, was in need of a brand to depict their unique and wholistic approach to banking. I was the only designer on this project.

A nationally-ranked bank needing a brand to reflect their partnerships.

Practice
makes perfect.

After preliminary client meetings, I explored combinations of traditional marks with modern typefaces to illuminate the bank’s long-standing place in the community, while playing off their entrepreneurial spirit.

Incorporating client feedback, and simplifying everything, I moved away from the word ‘Bank,’ examining more abstract marks that symbolized the growth of successful partnerships.
The art of interpreting a client’s wishes and translating them into a successful design is an ongoing learning process. Design is the study of subjectivity where succeeding or failing often has no rhyme or reason.

Although this design wasn’t ultimately implemented, for reasons beyond my control, these are some of my best solutions to date. This brief challenged me to explore new angles to approach my work.

Don't let perfect
be the enemy of good.
